Robin L. Dunnigan is the U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia. She most recently served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary responsible for Central and Eastern Europe in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
A career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor, Ambassador Dunnigan joined the State Department in 1992. She previously served as the Chargé d’Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Austria and as the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Department of State’s Bureau of Energy Resources.
Ambassador Dunnigan has served at United States Embassies in Vietnam, Chile, Turkey, Cuba and El Salvador. In Washington, Ambassador Dunnigan’s assignments included Director for the Office of Europe, the Western Hemisphere and Africa in the Energy Bureau, as well as positions in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs and in the office of the Secretary of State.
Ambassador Dunnigan is a distinguished graduate of the National War College, where she earned a Master of Science in National Security Strategy with distinction. She also received a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley. Ambassador Dunnigan speaks Spanish, as well as some German and Turkish. She is married with two children.
